Pages from the past - 1970

Mrs. Victor (Frances) Fairbanks from Denver presided as President of the Colorado Federation of Republican Women at the 1970 CFRW convention in Grand Junction. The treasurer reported $4,483.56. Contributions included $500 to each of four congressional candidates, $500 to Governor John Love and John Vanderhoof, Lt. Governor, $500 to the Republican State Treasurer who would replace ceceased Treasurer Virginia Blue, and $250 to each Republican Regent.

In 1971 the Cards for Candidates profit to clubs was $648.00 and to CFRW, $600.

CFRW met in Pueblo in 1973 with a theme of "Colorado, Past and Future." It was at this meeting that $100 was contributed through the Carline Owings Memorial tot he South Dakota disaster. The funds were given to a small boy found clinging to a tree after his home, parents and brothers and sisters were washed away in the flood. The boys uncle and family took him in and wrote a letter of thanks.
